Salary is $18.50 an hour. You are also eligible for a year end retention bonus of $2.00 for every hour worked during the season and you will be eligible for our Health Care Spending Account.

The Onboard Cleaner reports to their assigned Guest Services Manager (GSM). This position is accountable to facilitate a continuous cleaning process onboard the train.
Key Areas of Accountability
Responsible for maintaining the highest standard of cleanliness throughout the entire train, working to make both guest facing coaches as well as crew areas neat and sanitary.

  • Monitor, coordinate and perform cleaning duties in adherence to RM’s cleanliness standards.
  • Continuous cleaning of all guest touchpoints:

o Washrooms (including garbage removal)
o Outdoor platform (weather related)
o Floor surfaces (vacuum, sweeping)
o Glass, door, railing, surface disinfecting

  • Maintains targets with assigned tasks while looking for efficiencies and enhancements
  • Maintain supply-crew car set-up, cleanliness, upkeep, and crew meals.
  • Order and distribute cleaning supplies onboard the train (prior to departure and during travel)
  • Responsible for RM issued cleaning caddy

Communication with our guests and onboard team.

  • Ensure onboard team is aware of all guest facing cleanliness concerns
  • Comfortable interacting and conversing with guests to ensure our welcoming environment is a seamless experience.
  • Assist the Onboard team as required, and as directed by Onboard management.

High level of awareness for the health and safety of both guests and crew.

  • Report any damage or hazards to onboard management
  • Report any substandard conditions, problems, or health risks to onboard management
  • Adhere to onboard radio protocols
  • Adhere to our policies and procedures for the wearing, removal, and disposal of personal protective equipment (PPE) to reduce or prevent exposures to hazards and other health risks.
  • Comply with railway safety standards

Qualifications*
Experience

  • Experience as a Cleaner or Housekeeper in the hotel, travel, or tourism industry

Skills

  • Intermediate attention to detail
  • Intermediate time management and organization skills
  • Proficiency in English language
  • Spanish, French, German, and Mandarin considered an asset

Work Environment

  • Able to travel away from home base for up to 4 days at a time
  • Must be legally allowed to work in Canada for the duration of the operating season (April – October)
  • RM must be priority; cannot conflict with school commitments or other employment

Rocky Mountaineer (RM) is committed to the safety and health of our team members through providing a safe working environment. As a federally regulated transportation organization, we have a duty to comply with all applicable legislative requirements.
